Spike Lee's second feature film, which debuted in 1988, received special anniversary screenings in major cities marking three decades since its release. The film examined HBCU fraternity and sorority culture, drawing from Lee's personal college experience at Morehouse.
The Los Angeles screening took place at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, hosted by GLAMAA member Verlin Campbell '02, who chairs Sony's African American employee resource group. Following the viewing, Lee participated in a panel discussion with cast members discussing the film's significant influence on HBCU enrollment during the 1990s.
The We Are Morehouse platform highlights alumni from 1990 onward, celebrating the breadth and depth of the Morehouse network. There is no collection of Black men in the country that can rival the institution's comprehensive alumni community.
